The boys were delivered at 36 weeks via planned c-section and were overall healthy babies. They qualified for early intervention services through the state as expected due to being a month early they were a little behind in certain areas. As they got older we became concerned with their speech as they were both delayed. One of the boys is overall more shy and the other has no fear of strangers. They both were struggling with transitions and coping with those big feelings. Between our concerns about their speech and those aforementioned areas we started the process of getting them set up for psychological evaluations to see if anything else was going on. They both received a diagnosis of ASD level 1 - considered mild autism. The diagnosing clinician recommended being re-evaluated every so often and the boys currently go to a center for ABA therapy. It has been about a month and a half since starting and we have seen tremendous improvement in that short time. Their therapist feels with the proper support early on they will flourish and things should be very manageable. They are both very smart, kind, and funny boys.

Anything else would you like to mention about your talents, skills, interests

Nature is very grounding to me, especially the ocean and the moon/night sky. I am both very intellectually and creatively driven. I would consider myself a caretaker as I am very focused on the needs of those close to me. I have a proclivity for understanding others and find the psychology of people fascinating. I love immersing myself in a good book, writing poetry, and listening to a variety of music. I had originally gone to college to pursue archaeology with a focus on Ancient Egypt before taking a different path in life.
