My oldest daughter was diagnosed with high functioning autism when she was 19 months old. She just turned eight today and yes she was my IVF pregnancy and was born from one of the five embryos of which we have two remaining that we are donating. She would be considered Asperger's if that was still a diagnosis in and of itself. She is above average IQ with very little social deficits. The autism has not impacted her development or education as again, she is above average IQ and functions at the very top of her class or even slightly above her grade level. She struggled the most during her toddler years as she was understanding more than she was able to communicate which caused her a great deal of frustration and tantrums so we put her in therapy at a well-respected center for ASD. Most people are shocked to learn that she is on the spectrum when they meet her although I do believe that early intervention helped tremendously to get her to where she is today.

I received my BA from the University of Minnesota in Sociology and Family Violence Prevention. I also began a Masters Program in Marriage and Family Therapy at St Mary's University and completed approximately 35 credits towards that Masters Degree before I made the choice to put completion of the degree on hold in order to start our IVF Journey. I was a stay at home mom to our 2 girls until our youngest started Kindergarten in 2022 at which time I accepted a job as a volunteer coordinator for a middle school in the school district where we live.

I worked as a DJ for the majority of my 20's in addition to my full time job and still have a love of music. My wife and I love to travel and we were able to spend 10 days in Italy traveling from Rome to Florence and ending in Venice which was a dream of mine for many years. We have gone on several cruises to all parts of the Caribbean and Mexico.
