Letter

INTRO LETTER

Hello! We are [His name] and [Her name]. We got married fairly recently. Having met through a mutual friend and dated for a year, we decided to get married about a year and a half ago on a sunny, beautiful fall afternoon. Since we are both in our mid-to-late 30s ([Her name] is approaching 40, and may have passed that mark by the time you read this letter), we knew we wanted to pursue a family pretty quickly. [Her name] OB/GYN gave us six months to try before seeking fertility options.

We have been through several months of fertility consults, tests, research, doctors’ visits, and have decided to pursue embryo adoption. Before we got married, we knew there was a strong possibility we would pursue adoption. To be given the chance to experience carrying our adopted baby and all the bonding that goes with that would be incredible. We would be honored should we have the chance through this process. We know this will be the hardest job of our lives, but also simultaneously one of the greatest joys of our lives.

[His name] is an avid iris grower. We recently moved to a place that is a little more ‘country’ than city living – three acres. We have room to grow with two bedrooms perfect for kids. We LOVE the outdoors, and [His name] garden of iris is taking shape and presenting a beautiful array of colors this spring. Think hundreds of gorgeous irises! This has been a hobby for members in his family going back several generations. Whether or not our child will pursue this too, we are excited to share this love with our children. This passion for iris has provided a great outlet for [His name] as he works tirelessly as a CPA. The fact that tax season and iris season run into each other makes for busy but fulfilling spring days.

Someday, Lord-willing, we’ll have chickens, vegetable gardens, and more that would be so fun to share with our kids as they grow up in our home! For pets, we have two cats, a small King Cavalier-poodle dog, and a fish tank.

[Her name] is passionate about music – playing flute from time-to-time with friends and quartets, and sitting down at the piano to play having taken eight years of piano as a child. Orchestral, classical, and stage musicals are all a thrill for her! She has worked for over a decade in federal government for a dignitary who she highly respects.

Other hobbies we both enjoy are reading, cooking, watching movies and TV shows, game nights with friends, hosting people at our new house – we’ve had over 20 people (adults and children) over a couple times already!

One of the great honors for [Her name] is being aunt to her 2 year old nephew and soon-to-be niece in September. Though they are states away, it is always fun to visit and find ways of being an aunt from afar. [Her name] only aunt lives across country, and has always considered her one of the best - so she has a great role model in this aunt-from-afar thing!

[His name] is the oldest of four siblings, and the third oldest of 52 cousins on his dad’s side. So he has had ample experience around kids. He has been a great leader in our family as we pursue becoming parents.

[His name] and [Her name] both have several siblings who will make great aunts and uncles – along with very supportive parents. [Her name] parents were elated when they became first-time grandparents a couple years ago. They are the sweetest, most thoughtful grandparents to [Her name] nephew. It’s a joy to watch them fill this role so effortlessly. [His name] is the only one in his family who is married so far, so his parents are of course anxious to become grandparents as well!

Our faith is very important to us, and this child will be raised in a Christian home. We are faithful members of our Presbyterian church here at home, and are very thankful for God’s daily grace in our lives which leads to repentance and obedience – and the salvation which He provides through His Son, Jesus. It is our prayer our child will know this salvation too.

We would be absolutely be honored if you would consider us for your embryos to give the chance of life. We know you have likely been on your own hard, emotional roller-coaster infertility journey as well. You’ve had incredibly tough decisions to make. We are hopeful that you have your own beautiful family, but know you want the best for these other embryos. We would love a semi-open adoption so that you are assured on a semi-regular basis that this child – or children – are thriving. We will be open with them from a young age with their birth story.

You have decisions now to make as far as which family you will give your embryos to – we are trusting in God’s providence as we go through this matching process with another dear family. May you find the best match for your embryos. If our families are successfully matched, we would be ever-so-thankful!

~ Hopeful Adoptive Family

REFERENCE LETTER 1

To Whom It May Concern,

We are writing to express our enthusiastic support for [His name] and [Her name] as they embark on their adoption journey. We have known them for many years and can attest to their exceptional qualities as individuals and potential parents.

Our friends specialize in their fields of work—one in a field of reading, writing, and helping find solutions for elderly or disabled people and the other a specialist in math, details, and reporting. The two together offer a great team as parents with extreme kindness and patience. Both have held their same place of employment during the entire time we have known them.

Our friends are pillars in our church family because of their devotion to attending each worship service, helping care for the safety and security of our congregation, the cleanliness of the building, and their time volunteering to help facilitate further studies and fellowship. They work to care for those unnoticed, offering a helping hand when any need arises.

This couple sees and loves even the smallest of people. Our young son absolutely loves gummy desserts like gummy bears, worms, and such. [His name] and [Her name] brought gummies to share at a church luncheon for all of the children, knowing they would be devoured. These sweet people were so thoughtful that they saved a portion to send home to our sick child they knew would love them.

Before meeting one another, both individuals were well established in home, career, and community support. Together, they have created a stable family home life that reflects the love of Christ and his good gifts to us. Their loving home, love for one another, and community support make this couple your best candidate for your child.

REFERENCE LETTER 2

We are writing this letter in support of the application of [His name] and [Her name] to become parents by means of embryo adoption.

We are the parents of [Her name], our oldest of three children. We love her dearly, and she has always been a source of great pride and joy for us. She is a very supportive daughter and sister, and has always shown real respect for her older generations and family heritage. Assuming that academic and professional accomplishments have been provided elsewhere, we would like to add that she is a hard and caring worker, and is one of the nicest people we know. She is a committed Christian, studies the Bible, and effectively strives to live out her faith in her daily life. Her other interests include music (flute, piano, Broadway), travel, cooking, gardening, and pets. She loves to learn, has a servant heart, has many friends, and has adapted well to her role as [His name] wife over the last year and a half.

We have only known [His name] over the last several years, but we are extremely proud to have him as our son-in-law. He works hard as a CPA, and really enjoys his job. He is a kind and quiet leader, helpful in many ways, and resourceful. He is skilled in horticulture, cooking, and we find him to be very good at whatever he puts his mind to. In our observation, he and [Her name] have developed a fun marriage relationship, are supportive of each other’s interests and needs, and work well together in solving challenges. [His name], too, is a committed Christian. They are both very active in their local church, which, in turn, is a strong source of support and encouragement for them.

[His name] and [Her name] will make great parents, and we are excited to see this role fulfilled in their lives. We know that any child privileged to be raised in their loving home will experience a healthy and happy environment, conservative values, and will be given every opportunity to excel in life as a result of their parenting, and their spiritual foundation. We highly recommend them for this most important role in life.

REFERENCE LETTER 3

I’ve known [His name] for five years and [Her name] for three. They are members of the church I am also a member, faithfully attending Sunday school, morning worship service and evening services. [His name] is an usher and both volunteer in church programs.

My stepdaughter knew both of them separately and introduced them seeing characteristics in both that would promote a solid marriage. They dated for a year or more and married approximately 1 ½ years ago. Their desire to have children was expressed from the very start. They bought a large home on a large lot to accommodate a family as well as their interest in gardening.

As the marriage was late in their 30’s and, always having a desire to adopt children, the opportunity to adopt an embryo seems to be a good fit for them. These people exhibit qualities of kindness and faithfulness. They keep a clean, well-ordered household. They have a consistently pleasant countenance that puts one at ease in their presence. They have an active outdoor lifestyle and are active in church activities and musical events, and other community/cultural activities. They are attentive to others needs and quick to offer help to those in need.

I would highly recommend them as loving potential parents.
