INTRO LETTER
Dear Donor Family,
Hello! I hope this letter finds you and your family healthy and in good spirits! Thanks so much for taking the time to read this. It is my genuine hope to one day have a child of my own, and I am incredibly thankful for the possibility of building my family, with your help.
I’d love to share a little about myself. For the past 17 years, I’ve worked as a school psychologist in a large public school district. In my current role, I complete special education evaluations to help identify educational disabilities such as autism, ADHD, and developmental or intellectual disabilities. Supporting young children and their families is truly meaningful to me, and I feel fortunate that my work allows me to do something I’m passionate about every day. It also affords me a great schedule with afternoons, weekends, and summers off, which will be great for when my child finally arrives.
Outside of work, health and fitness are a big part of my life. I teach two fitness classes each week—strength and cycling—at my local gym, and I would say working out is my main hobby. I’ve run nine full marathons and still hope to complete one last race someday. I enjoy meal prepping and usually spend Sundays cooking healthy meals for the week ahead. When I’m not exercising or cooking, I love reading, journaling, meditating, golfing, trying new things, traveling, and spending time with friends.
Personality-wise, I would describe myself as energetic, happy-go-lucky, outgoing, and social, but also hardworking and introspective. My boss would likely say I’m conscientious, detail-oriented, and deeply committed to helping families—qualities I bring into both my professional and personal life.
I’m lucky to have a wonderful group of close girlfriends who are an important part of my support system. We’re intentional about making time for one another and even schedule planning meetings to put events on our calendars in advance. Some of our favorite activities include going to the theatre and museums, playing Mahjong, and going out to dinner together.
I’ve lived in my current city for the past 17 years. It’s a place I truly love and also believe is a great place to raise a child. It sits on the shore of a large lake—about a mile from my home—and has beautiful parks with walking and running trails that I frequent in the warmer months. The city also hosts many family-friendly festivals throughout the summer. I live close to downtown, where there are theatres, libraries, and museums. I own my own 2-bedroom condo in a quiet community with a mix of retirees, single folks, couples, and a few young families.
Family is also very important to me. While my parents live about a six-hour drive away I feel very close to them. They visit me about once a year, and I travel to see them about three to four times a year. I also have an older brother, who is married with three children, and a close extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. I also have a close cousin who lives just an hour and a half away, who I see more frequently. While I don’t see my parents on a weekly basis, we talk often throughout the week, and I know they will come out to support me once baby arrives.
My favorite times of year are when I get to visit at Christmas and over Labor Day Weekend.
During Christmas we get together to play games, eat, drink, and open presents. It’s also when my mom and I make Lahmajoun, which is like an Armenian pizza. Over Labor Day Weekend my cousin and I host our annual family reunion where we have a golf outing and a huge party at my aunt’s house with tons of food and lots of laughter. This year will mark our 39th annual Armenian Open!
My fertility journey has not been successful thus far. At 36, I made the decision to freeze my eggs, paying out-of-pocket since preservation wasn’t covered by my insurance. I waited to try to conceive, hoping I would find a partner, but that path didn’t unfold as I’d imagined. When I turned 41, I called my clinic to start the process of fertilization and a transfer. After almost a year of preparing my body for transfer, my eggs were thawed, and fertilization was attempted. Unfortunately, none of my embryos survived past the first day. I tried another IVF cycle at age 42, and although one embryo made it to blastocyst and was transferred, it unfortunately did not result in a pregnancy. While this journey has been heartbreaking, I’m still holding onto hope that the right path to parenthood is ahead of me.
Although I still hope to find a partner someday, I am genuinely happy and fulfilled being single. I’ve always been fiercely independent and take pride in having built a stable, meaningful life for myself—purchasing my own home and car, investing in my future, and carefully planning for the financial realities of parenthood. I’m surrounded by loving friends and family and feel that my life is already full of connection, laughter, and purpose. Now, I feel ready to take the next step and to start my family.
When I imagine bringing a baby home, I know there will be sleepless nights, but I also know I won’t be doing it alone. My parents and friends have already offered their support, and I feel incredibly grateful to have such a great village. I can’t wait for the day I get to hold my baby. I’m looking forward to getting down on the floor and playing with my toddler and running after them at the park. I’m excited when I think about reading to them and when they finally get to go to school. I think about the tough middle school years and having to help them navigate social pressures through high school but hope that my training in psychology will give me the strength and knowledge to support them through it. I also think about them in adulthood, what career path they may choose, and having a relationship that changes into one more of friendship, like the one I have with my mom.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me. If you have any questions or would like to know more, please don’t hesitate to reach out—I’m truly an open book. I look forward to the possibility of meeting you and learning more about your family.
Take care!
