INTRO LETTER

Greetings Donor Family,

We are delighted that you're reading our profile, and we look forward to sharing a bit about ourselves and who we are.

Background

We met while Parent 1 was studying abroad in Europe. We have been married 7 years, and have known each other for 13 years.

We live in a great city, in an apartment with our dog and cat. We are located in a beautiful neighbourhood, next to many great parks and near the local Arts district. The parks are always bustling with families, sports, and other gatherings, especially in the summertime.

We have lived in our building for almost 7 years and have a close-knit community with other tenants that we consider friends, and some even feel like family.

We share very similar family dynamics: we are both one of four children, our parents are still together, and we both come from mixed-heritage homes. Our families live far away; however, it is important to us that we speak regularly and visit them as often as we can. Vacations are almost always dedicated to seeing them, which means we have a yearly trip to Europe, for holidays, we travel state-side, or whenever possible, visiting family.

With our families being far away geographically, we have nurtured our friendships and value connections and traditions with close friends. We take local trips and have big birthday celebrations. We also enjoy hosting coffee and dinner nights at our place.

Hobbies and Interests

We both enjoy keeping a balanced life, pursuing our hobbies and staying active, while also prioritising time to recharge together. Below is a breakdown of our individual traits, hobbies and interests.

Parent 1: Jovial, outgoing, hardworking, and adventurous. Enjoys weightlifting, cycling, Metal Detecting, cooking, travelling, and listening to podcasts. She loves learning new things, is a problem solver, loves her heritage, and enjoys nurturing her family, friendships, and her faith. She also loves doting on our beloved hound dog.

Parent 2: Nurturing, kind, hardworking, and fun. Enjoys running, hiking, reading, listening to music, and dancing. She also loves a good cup of coffee with her close group of friends. She also values her downtime and cuddling our cat.

Work Life

We both have the privilege of working in fields that both interest and inspire us. Here is a breakdown of our individual work lives.

Parent 1: Has a Degree in Art but now works as an Engineering Technician in Future Technologies.

My passion for Art is a huge part of my life and is tightly woven into my upbringing and faith. I want to inspire my future children to be curious by exposing them to the wonder of art, the way I grew up. I now work as an Engineering Technician Lead in Future Technologies. It allows me to be creative and problem solve, but also to help and guide others through exciting and sometimes tricky projects. My coworkers would describe my leadership style as inclusive, direct, and caring. I thoroughly enjoy my job and look forward to it every day. I hope to bring the same mindset as team lead to my parenting when I come home. I hope to listen first and guide with encouragement and support. I will stand strong in my boundaries and focus on the aspect of parenting that creates a strong bond and team. My Job requires an early start and finish by early afternoon. This allows me to be home during a good part of the day. This will be beneficial because it provides a significant time with my future child/children. We live right next to a wonderful park with a big play area where we can meet up with local friends and their children.

Parent 2: Has a degree in Early Childhood Education and works as a Nanny for a nanny share.

I have always had a passion for young children, their development, and the formation of their identities. My career began in Swedish early education care, working with large groups of children and their families. Upon moving to the US, I started Nannying, given my career background in Sweden. I didn't have plans on staying as long as I have, but once I started, I fell in love with it. I can apply my education and experience in a much more meaningful way because of the one-on-one position. I also have the wonderful privilege of being a part of these families' networks and ecosystems, allowing me to become much more than an in-home employee.

Working in a Nanny Share allows the children to receive not only a closeness to me but the added benefit of a friend to help them grow and learn together. They also get a built-in bond with another family within their community. I hope to bring my child/children into a nanny share group with me, giving them built-in friends, community, and allowing me to be a full-time mum while incorporating my work. My experience and education will directly impact my parenting style. I am excited to foster and care for my own child the way I have with so many other children.

Path to parenthood

We started our path towards parenthood two years ago when we found a sperm donor via a sperm bank. After four failed attempts at home insemination, we decided to have further testing done before pursuing IUI. It was then that we discovered that the intended parent had an extremely low egg reserve and poor egg quality for her age. The odds of getting pregnant through IUI were less than 2%, and IVF with her eggs was not recommended. It was a huge blow to us, but we have always dreamed of being parents, and our unique journey, like your own, has led us here.

Our life and all our decisions up to this point have been with our own family in mind. Our apartment is a two-bedroom apartment with one room always planned as a nursery/child's bedroom. We have bedding, accessories and clothes. We have ensured that we have a place to store the stroller at the entrance of our building and upgraded to an SUV, all in preparation for a little human to join our family. We both made career decisions to ensure financial stability and flexibility. We have been ready to be parents together since the day we met, and that road has led us here. Our missing puzzle piece has a loving, warm home to fall into, and with two very excited parents ready to love and nurture them. There is also a large and loving community waiting with open arms to meet them.

A big thank you to you for taking the time to read our profile and for carefully considering us. We hope that we have painted a picture of our lives/us and give you a little glimpse into who we are and how we would raise our children. We are happy to answer all and any questions you may have.

REFERENCE LETTER 1

To whom it may concern,

My name is [...] and I have had the absolute privilege of knowing Parent 1 and Parent 2 for the last five years. It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I recommend them for adoption – it is an honor to be part of their journey towards parenthood.

Parent 2 and I met on a rainy day at a neighborhood park where we were both nannying. I was fairly new to the job at the time, and wasn’t sure how to approach the big puddle debate (to go in or to stay clean). Parent 2 was encouraging her kids to run, jump, skip, and get absolutely filthy. I was inspired by how she so clearly prioritized the enjoyment of the kids in her care, no matter the mess. I told my kids to jump as high as they could through the puddles, then immediately introduced myself to the person who gave me the confidence to do so. We have been friends ever since.

Knowing and loving Parent 2 has led to a friendship with her wife, Parent 1. Parent 1 lights up any room she walks into, and her confidence inspires the same in others. She is a devoted and thoughtful partner, and welcomed me into her life with open arms.

Throughout our careers as nannies, Parent 2 and I have spent most days working together, and have created a community of people who love and care for us and the children we work with. With the help of this community, we get to brainstorm ways to navigate the challenges that come with helping children grow and develop. Parent 2’s knowledge of child development is unmatched, and she loves the challenge of helping each individual child thrive. The other day, when discussing our future as parents raising teenagers, Parent 2 made the insightful comment that teenagers don’t always run to their parents when they need advice, but to another close adult. I would want nothing more than for my future teenager to have Parent 1 and Parent 2 in their life to run towards.

Parent 1 and Parent 2 understand the importance of the village it takes to raise a child, and because of this, they surround themselves with the best people. They live in a neighborhood that is catered towards raising a family: their (City Area) home is surrounded by other families,

parks, and friends that love them. They are devoted animal parents to Bluebird (cat) and Julep (dog). They have created a home that blossoms with love and light.

Parent 1 and Parent 2 would be the kindest, most patient, and amazing parents. I see them both as part of my family, so growing their family will be growing my own. I can’t think of a couple more perfect and ready for parenthood than these two.
