My 17-year-old son is heading off to college this fall after being accepted to a military academy. He’s introverted but driven and independent, balancing academics with a part-time job and demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility beyond his years. Outside of school and work, he’s passionate about lacrosse. While it’s bittersweet to see him leave home, I’m incredibly proud of him for taking this big step.

My 12-year-old son is very sociable and passionate about all kinds of sports. We traveled to Paris to watch a PSG soccer match and to Madrid for a Real Madrid game—experiences he truly loved. He’s mature for his age and already excited to take care of his future baby brother or sister. Ambitious and surprisingly knowledgeable about finances and the stock market, he enjoys the simple things too—like going grocery shopping with me and spending quality time together each week.

My 10-year-old princess is ready to give up her decade-long title as the youngest child in the family when her baby brother or sister arrives. Though she’s not the most outgoing, she’s formed a few close friendships at school. She’s incredibly observant and often points out little things I might have overlooked—whether it’s a missing item at home or something subtle in a conversation. She has a sharp mind and a love for problem-solving. She’s especially into brain games, puzzles, and anything that challenges her thinking.

When it comes to vacations, cruises and overseas trips are their top picks—we’ve traveled to many countries and been on five cruises (and counting). The mix of adventure, relaxation, and the thrill of exploring new places always leaves us excited and full of great memories.

Letter

INTRO LETTER

Hi, my name is [Her name]. I made my way to the U.S. from China right after college. Growing up as an only child, I always dreamed of having a big family of my own. I chose to become a single mother by choice when I couldn't find my Mr. Right. I’ve had the privilege of raising three incredible children—now 17, 11, and 10. Even though my oldest is heading off to college this fall and the younger two are entering their teenage years, I still dream of expanding our family. Thanks to my doctor, who introduced me to donor embryos, I’m thrilled to be embarking on this incredible new journey.

We live in a new single-family home in a beautiful suburban neighborhood. I work from home full-time and am grateful for the opportunity to maintain a healthy work-life balance. My two younger children are so excited about welcoming a baby brother or sister—they’ve even started applying to me for the babysitting job, hoping to earn money for their favorite things.

My children mean the world to me. I’ve devoted myself to their growth and well-being. Although balancing a professional career with family responsibilities can be challenging, I’ve made it work and cherished every moment of our quality time. We’ve traveled to many countries together, as I believe in showing them the world and broadening their horizons—whether it’s reconnecting with their heritage in China, exploring the charming and mesmerizing cities of Europe, or an adventure to the desert outside the Middle Eastern city of Dubai.

Although I was raised with a traditional “tiger mom” education in my formative years, I strive to instill different values in my children within a more nurturing environment. While helping them with their studies, I ensure that they understand the significance of self-discipline and hard work. They are not only excelling academically but are also passionate about their dreams and are true independent thinkers.

The gift from you is more than just a chance to grow our family—it’s a chance for new life, new love, and a beautiful new beginning. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and the beautiful possibilities you’ve made real for us.

REFERENCE LETTER 1

Dear Embryo Donor Family,

I am writing this letter in reference to my dear colleague and friend [Her name], who has embarked on a deeply meaningful journey to expand her family. It is with great respect and admiration that I share my thoughts about her, as well as my appreciation for the generous and life-changing decision that you have made to contribute to her family's growth through embryo donation.

I have known my friend for 19 years and have witnessed her exceptional character, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the well-being of those around her. She is a compassionate and devoted individual, both in her personal and professional life. She has demonstrated a rare ability to balance a successful career while nurturing her family with love, patience, and guidance.

What stands out most about [Her name] is her immense capacity to give. She has always prioritized the growth, development, and happiness of her children, showing them the world and teaching them invaluable life lessons. I have no doubt that she will be an extraordinary mother to the new addition to her family.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss her character further, please do not hesitate to reach out. I am more than happy to offer any additional insight that may be helpful.

Warmest regards,

REFERENCE LETTER 2

Dear Embryo Donor Family,

I hope this letter finds you well. We are writing to you as the parents of our daughter [Her name], who is soon to welcome a child through the incredible and generous gift of embryo donation. I wanted to take a moment to share with you the deep appreciation we have for your role in making this life-changing opportunity possible.

Over the years, we have watched her raise her children with love and attention to their emotional and educational needs. Her home is one where kindness, discipline, and curiosity are nurtured. She is not only an exceptional mother but also a devoted teacher and role model for her children. Her dedication to instilling values such as empathy, respect, and self-discipline in her children is something we deeply admire.

As a family, we are all thrilled about the prospect of welcoming another member into our home. It is a true blessing to see our family grow, and we are forever grateful to you for making this possible. Please know that we will cherish this child as a part of our family and provide them with a supportive, loving, and enriching environment. We are committed to ensuring that they will always have the resources and opportunities to thrive, and we will be there every step of the way to support them.

Sincerely,

REFERENCE LETTER 3

Hi, my name is T. I wish I could meet my baby brother or sister already! I just know they’ll love watching me play sports from the stroller—I’m pretty great at soccer and basketball.

My mom is the GMOAT (Greatest Mom Of All Time). She’s taught me so much about compassion, resilience, and empathy, and I really look up to her. Our family has been on so many adventures together—traveling to different places and making memories—and I’m super excited for all the new memories we’ll create with our newest family member. Next time we book a cruise, we might need two connecting rooms. And when we fly, our big family might just take up an entire row on the plane!

Our home is a place filled with love, laughter, and learning, and I know our family is going to welcome this new sibling with open arms.

Thank you so much for reading my letter.

With lots of love,
