INTRO LETTER
We met in our first week of college and started dating in our sophomore year. We’re a fun loving, social and active couple. We will be celebrating 4 years of marriage this July! We both have a strong desire to be parents, and to love and raise children. We came to adoption after years of infertility due to premature ovarian insufficiency (a diagnosis received in 2018), and we are so excited to be pursuing embryo adoption!
In our house, we love to host friends for meals and game nights and most weeknights we spend lots of time outside, including walks or hanging with a few families in our neighborhood. We love our house and neighborhood! There’s a nice park with a playground, basketball courts and green space practically in our backyard. We have several large parks within 10 minutes of our home that we frequently go to for hiking through the woods or going on a run. Both of us truly enjoy being outside whether it’s walking, yard work or playing sports. Our house feels cozy and welcoming, filled with natural light and comfortable furniture. The basement is finished and we have a piano and guitar down there that we play for fun.
For work, he is a project manager and she is a nurse in a pre/post operative unit in a hospital. Usually we have commitments on a couple week nights, whether that’s church groups or other activities. We have been involved in youth sports in our community for the past 3 years. He coaches boys’ basketball and she coaches girls’ soccer, ages range 4th - 6th grade years. We also enjoy watching The Office or Seinfeld or a game together on some nights. Weekends are usually spent getting together with friends, sports games (in season), and going to church on Sunday. Our faith is very important to us and we prioritize being actively involved and serving in our church. Our traditions involve spending time with family, playing games together and eating delicious food. For Christmas, we make a large spread of brunch foods, her grandma’s special overnight french toast being the favorite. Last Christmas, we tried to make a new tradition of a Christmas movie marathon and sleeping by the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve.
Our families live several hours away from us right now, but we are intentional with both families to visit or host them every couple of months, and call often when we can’t be together. He has an older sister and brother, and a large extended family he is close with. The family is very loving, caring and welcoming. She has an older brother and younger brother, her younger brother lives 20 minutes away. We get together with her brother frequently. Her parents and Grandparents live close to each other, so we usually get to see them all together when we visit. Her dad’s side of the family, we see maybe every couple of years. We love both of our families and have good relationships, they are very kind, supportive and loving. Our families are so excited for us as we grow our family through adoption!
REFERENCE LETTER 1
To Whom It May Concern:
My wife and I have been asked to tell you about our good friends. We first met them through a friend at our church. Soon after, he joined another father and I to help coach my oldest son’s basketball team. He helped coach the basketball team for three years. During that time, she helped coach my daughter’s soccer team, and they both were Sunday school teachers for my youngest son and daughter at our church. Throughout the past three years, we have spent so much time with them at activities with children and also socially with our children. This gave us a great opportunity to witness their love for others and their willingness to serve and how that will translate into the traits of being great parents.
The friendship I have developed with him has been one of the greatest blessings in my life over the past five years. Coaching young children requires a lot of patience, self-control and good communication. He demonstrates all of these qualities, and I am grateful he has influenced my childrens’ lives as a coach and a Sunday school teacher. The most impressive quality that he possesses is the humility to pursue wisdom from others. During my daughter’s soccer practices, he and I would often walk around the soccer fields and talk. He always had good questions to ask about fatherhood and about being a husband. His desire to learn and seek wisdom reveals he has been preparing for fatherhood for years and I believe he is going to be an awesome father for his children.
She is a joy to be around, and we became great friends through our mutual careers in the nursing field, having both played collegiate soccer and intramural basketball, and also our mutual love for nature, beauty, hiking, and time together. As a nurse, she works hard to love and serve her patients and co-workers well by getting to know them and meeting their needs. She is a wonderful coach and role model for my daughter’s soccer and basketball teams. She is constantly teaching, encouraging, and building up the girls, both on and off the field and court. As a coach's wife, she supports and loves him so well. She has attended many basketball games, even my daughter’s and younger son’s games as well, to cheer for them and support them. I believe she will be an amazing Mother, and I am so excited for this opportunity for her. I really enjoy spending time with she because she is always kind, patient, and full of joy. I always feel encouraged and built up after spending any amount of time with her. Together, they radiate the joy, love, and service in every aspect of their lives, and we are so blessed to have them as friends.
Their willingness to serve the children in their community, their character and love for others, and their desire to learn more about parenthood all stems from their faith. We have been so blessed to have them in our lives and in our children’s lives. We are so grateful for their love, service and wisdom at a young age, and they motivate us to be better parents and members of our church and community. They are going to be great parents and we could not more strongly recommend them to you as parents pursuing adoption.
REFERENCE LETTER 2
It is with great pleasure we write this letter to share our thoughts on this couple. As their parents, we know them very well: our daughter since birth and our son-in-law since 2015. Both of them had the beneficial experience of growing up in loving, two-parent households, and were actively involved in faith communities. As a result, they demonstrate a healthy maturity, genuine love for others, integrity of character, and generosity of their time, talent, and treasure.
Their love for others can be seen in the joy they find in serving others; especially children. While growing up, she volunteered in children’s ministry and was a sought-after babysitter for many families. He also has a history of children’s ministry, which we witnessed that first hand as he helped out with children’s ministry at our church and through mission trips. Presently, their love for children can be seen in their teaching Sunday School, babysitting for friends, and youth sport coaching: he with basketball and she with soccer. Often couples their age have an inward focus, but they demonstrate their love through action, especially with children.
A strong marriage is foundational to a healthy family. They are incredibly supportive of each other and unified as a couple. Their path has not always been easy, but by loving each other and communicating effectively with each other, they have built one of the strongest marriages we have seen. Any child adopted into their family will benefit from their kindness, intentionality and genuine love.
REFERENCE LETTER 3
We became very close to them, very quickly, mostly in part due to our shared beliefs, similarities, and above all joy that comes with being around them. Of the friends we have that we often see that are familiar with our family and daughter, they are who she knows the best and trusts the most. They are our only friends we have left our daughter with for an evening out, and our only friends who are actively involved with teaching, guiding, and pouring into other families' kids for the children’s growth and benefit.
Both of them, individually, for the sake of loving their friends and community, give up their time and energy to coach basketball and soccer, respectively. They both teach a Sunday school classroom monthly and whenever they are needed. Of all the families they know with children, they ensure to not only interact and care for the adults, but pay attention to each of the kids and their interests as well. Their commitment to one another, love of their friends and family within their community, and their adherence to their standard of truth is the basis and evidence of our confidence and faith in them to be wonderfully loving parents. Entirely too capable of raising many, many children of their own.
We are not shy to say we see them as our brother and sister. They are the kind of people who if you need them, will stop whatever they are doing at the drop of a hat and help. They are teachers, mentors, encouragers and true friends. When they are around people, they are intentional about the conversations they have. They love people well and when they are talking to you, they really want to get to know you. Amazingly that's exactly how they are with kids too. We love them and we are some of their biggest fans (though they have many). We can’t wait to see them be parents and walk alongside them during the journey of parenthood, just like they have walked with us.
