She’s an avid fiction reader, loves writing poetry, playing guitar and is a self-proclaimed free-spirit in the best kind of way. Being a youthful, fit and healthy 48 year old woman makes her feel very capable for the journey of motherhood, especially with [His name] by her side.

 

We have been happily married for 6 years and we’ve been together since we met 8 years ago. In that time we have worked hard on building an open, honest, healthy and strong communicative marriage. We are truly each other’s equal and partner. We do everything together which includes travel, running a family business, taking care of our adorable husky and spending quality time together when we are not working. We understand the importance of our individual pursuits and hobbies and hold space for one-another to find personal fulfillment while also prioritizing togetherness in our marriage. [Her name] runs her own business and while being an entrepreneur can be challenging, she really has a knack for it and has also set-up a nice schedule 2 days a week from 1-4pm in the treatment room. We are walking distance from the library, after-school program, baseball field, basketball courts, soccer field and an outdoor picnic and playground area where we will spend a lot of our time as a family.

 

Our family traditions span from festive Christmas gatherings to lakeside retreats on the 4th of July, where we cherish every moment spent with loved ones. On a more personal note, our journey towards parenthood together hasn’t gone quite as expected. Meeting in our 40’s came with its biological clock limitations. By the time we were married, [His name] had to have a vasectomy reversal surgery and time allowed for healing. His surgery worked, and we tried to grow our family naturally without any luck, and the years were passing by. [Her name] decided to get an ultrasound to see if something was preventing her from getting/staying pregnant. It turns out she had to have a myomectomy to remove a cantaloupe-size benign fibroid that was filling up her entire uterus. They said she had to wait at least a year post-op before we could start trying again. At that point, she was 44 with low ovarian reserve and a less than 1% chance of getting pregnant naturally. Although her uterus and ovaries are in excellent condition, the surgery put her into early menopause, now giving us a 0% chance at natural pregnancy. We have a compassionate team of fertility experts by our side just a few minutes away to support us with [Her name] advanced maternal age pregnancy after the embryo transfer, and have researched every possibly outcome, giving us full confidence in this process. We also decided together that if one of us weren’t able to be genetically related to our child, then both of us didn’t want to be genetically related because DNA or not, we will love our child and raise them as our own.

 

While our path to parenthood has been marked by challenges, we believe that every twist and turn has led us closer to the child meant to be part of our family.
