My dog Oso (bear in Spanish) is my goofy, affectionate and playful companion. I never imagined when I went on vacation to Puerto Rico that I I would come home with a rescue dog, much less an eight week old puppy. I immediately fell in love when I picked him up and three days later he was on the plane home with me! They say that your dog chooses you and this is definitely true for me and Oso.

Beverage / Drink
I enjoy herbal teas and putting lemon, fruit or cucumber in my water to make it more tasty.
Book
Reading fiction is something I do regularly as a way to relax. It’s hard to choose one favorite book. Beloved by Toni Morrison left an impact on me as a teenager. I recently felt inspired by a book called Circe, which is about a Greek goddess who lives on an island making potions. I still read actual books as opposed to using a kindle or e-reader; I like the feeling of the paper in my hands.
Candy Bar
Junior Mints
Childhood Memory
My favorite childhood memories are going to the beach with my family and having large family gatherings. I enjoyed gardening with my grandmother at her house and swimming in her pool with my cousins.
Color
I like ocean colors and rich southwest desert colors - teal, marine blue, burnt orange and terracotta.
Dessert
Carrot cake and fruit cobblers
Disney Movie
Encanto and Moana were fun. I loved the music. Inside Out is great for teaching children about their emotions.
Car
Job
I already enjoy my job as a psychotherapist, but I would like to expand it to offer more healing modalities. My dream is to own a property where there is nature in walking distance. I would build an office in the yard so I could see clients at my home (but not in my home) and offer a menu of options such as craniosacral bodywork, mindfulness based therapy, art therapy, yoga and ecotherapy.
Family Activity
My mother lives close to the beach, so we spend a lot of time together as a family at her house in the summer. We walk to the beach, swim together and take walks to the river. We often cook dinner together and enjoy the long summer evenings outside.
Restaurant
Flower
I love nasturtiums because they are both beautiful and edible. Tulips and sunflowers are also beautiful.
Fruit
All kinds of berries are delicious. I love making fruit cobblers in the summer. My mother has a blueberry bush in her yard and as a child I loved our family trips to pick strawberries.

I love to make ceramics. Whether it's on the wheel or handbuilt, working with clay is a relaxing and satisfying form of creativity. I also love hiking with my dog and camping.

Halloween and Thanksgiving are my favorite holidays. I appreciate Thanksgiving because it is a time to show gratitude and enjoy being with loved ones without the commercialism of Christmas. Of course it's fun to get dressed up on Halloween and enjoy the imaginary world of children.

INTRO LETTER
June 30, 2024
Dear Embryo Donors,
First off, I want to say how grateful I am for the opportunity to have a baby with a donated embryo. When I recently learned that it is possible to create a family this way, I immediately felt that it was the right option for me. Thank you so much for donating your embryos - it is truly a gift!
It always felt clear to me that I would have a child. I have worked with children in different capacities beginning in high school, as a volunteer in college and throughout most of my career. In my early 20s, I started reading parenting articles and have always taken an interest in child development and social-emotional learning, especially in my former job as a school-based therapist.
Like many people, I have had a long and difficult fertility journey. At 35, I proactively took steps to have a child by freezing my eggs. I even went to Medellin, Colombia to do this since it was ⅓ of the cost. The clinic retrieved 9 eggs and I returned to the US with a sense of relief that I had time to meet a partner and start my family.
Five years later, I moved back to my hometown when COVID started and serendipitously met my partner in my childhood neighborhood. We quickly started trying to conceive and got pregnant in 2021, but we had a miscarriage. I was sad but I wasn’t too worried because I had my frozen eggs as a backup plan. But when I had the eggs shipped to my fertility clinic in 2022, none of them resulted in a pregnancy (only 2 survived the thaw). I was shocked and emotionally distraught.
We continued trying to conceive and in the spring of 2023, I got pregnant again (this time through IVF) but I had a second miscarriage. This second miscarriage was particularly crushing because I got COVID in the early stage of pregnancy; I will never know if COVID caused the miscarriage. To add to the pain, my relationship was not doing well and my partner and I broke up in the summer of 2023.
I entered therapy and joined a support group to help me grieve the miscarriages and the loss of my relationship. I also spent considerable time reevaluating my desire to become a parent and concluded that I still wanted to have a baby, even as a single parent.
My life is well set up for a child. I own a charming, light-filled three bedroom bungalow with a yard in a quiet, residential neighborhood. I’m also in a financially stable place in my career where I can make time for parenthood. I work from home, set my own hours and have flexibility to take time off when needed. After maternity leave, I plan to continue to work remotely and hire a babysitter at home so I can be available for my child as much as possible.
I have a support system who are all excited to welcome a baby into our community. Even though my parents are divorced, we have always done activities and spent holidays together - my parents, siblings and my parent’s partners. My aunts, uncles and cousins in the area will be delighted to welcome a new child into the family. I also have a large network of friends close by, some going back to my childhood and some newer friendships since I moved home. They are all down-to-earth people who enjoy community activities and children.
My mother and I have had extensive conversations about the kind of support I will need and she plans to be my primary support person, especially for the first year of the child’s life. We may even live together or buy a two-family home. My father and stepmother will also provide hands-on support, as well as my two siblings and close friends in the area. My father has generously offered to help pay for childcare.
I'm excited to do so many things with my child - provide a fun and loving environment, expose them to different kinds of food to see what they like, spend time in nature, read together, go to the beach, play with them, encourage their unique gifts and interests and raise them with love, care and guidance. It's going to be the adventure of a lifetime and I couldn't be more excited.
After a long fertility journey, deep soul-searching and many conversations with friends and family, I feel prepared to become a parent (as much as anyone can!) and I sincerely hope you will consider me for your embryos.
Warmly,

To Whom It May Concern:
I would like to provide the highest possible recommendation for my daughter B, who is applying to receive an embryo through your program.
B is a loving and responsible woman who very l much wants to become a Mom. She has a loving and supportive family, including myself, who are looking forward to helping her welcome a child.
She has all the qualities needed to be a good parent – she is very loving and responsible, and is strong and healthy, she owns her own home, and has a career that allows her to set her own
hours. She will have a strong support system as a new parent, including not only myself but her sister, father, and stepmother, all of whom who live just a few miles away, as well as several close friends. A brother lives in a nearby community and he and his wife will also be involved and available to provide support as needed. This child will grow up in a loving and nurturing family.
B has wanted to have children for many years. I truly hope that with your support her dream can become a reality.
I am happy to answer any specific questions you may have.
Sincerely,

To Whom It May Concern:
It is my pleasure and honor to write a letter of recommendation for my dear friend B. I’ve written many letters of support in my career, but I can’t think of one that feels as important and meaningful as this one.
I’ve known B since our early pre-teens when we met in middle school. We have gone to school, played sports, traveled, she was in my wedding, supported each other’s dreams and plotted together when we needed to solve a problem. B has known my own 2 children since they were born (now 7 and 9). Over the years since I have become a parent, we have spent a lot of time together with B as a family. B has been a mentor and honorary aunt. I find there are people who will tolerate kids being around and those who are drawn to connect with them. B is definitely someone who cares enough to connect. She will sit with them, earnestly ask them about their school or art or dance class and will support them through any kind of challenge they may be facing with warmth, curiosity and guidance.
I wholeheartedly believe that there are many paths to parenthood. Although I had what might be considered a more traditional path, I don’t think that it is any more right or natural then any other. I know that it has been incredibly difficult for B to face the challenges that she has with conception, but I also see the experiences, opportunities and work that she has dedicated herself to that has given her perspective, wisdom and strength that I only wish I had. B’s lifestyle is also a rare strength. She manages a clean and warm home, a healthy and active lifestyle and a strong community. I know that it is these attributes that will shape her to be a loving, creative, fun and dedicated mother..
As a therapist herself, B has not only the training and experience to support people to navigate the deepest of challenges and to be their best most empowered selves, but she also has a flexible schedule and financial security to provide for a child. I know that if anything ever happened to me that I would want B to be there for my children and I know that I want to live in a world where more children are raised by people like B. I know B’s support system is wide and strong and I can’t wait for the day when I can start to return the many favors B has offered me and my family, and be there for her as her family grows.
Sincerely,

To whom it may concern,
I'm writing this letter on behalf of my younger sister B. I have known B all her life. She has always wanted to be a mother.
Our younger brother was born when B was 8. It was clear even when B was a young child that motherhood was part of her DNA. She always wanted to swaddle our brother and take care of him when he was a baby.
Having a child has been a lifelong dream for B. She became a social worker working with children as an extension of her care for children. She has explored many options to become a mother and this opportunity seems to be the best one.
I am sure B will be a devoted mother who does everything she can to support her child. She has a loving family here to support her. She has a stable home, an established career, and a big heart.
In addition to being a therapist, B is a trained yoga teacher with interest in health, being involved with the community, gardening, dancing, caring for the environment, and being in nature. She will want a child to have all the opportunities we had when we were kids, such as going to camp and being in nature.
The child will be lucky to have B. as his/her mother.
