My dog Oso (bear in Spanish) is my goofy, affectionate and playful companion. I never imagined when I went on vacation to Puerto Rico that I I would come home with a rescue dog, much less an eight week old puppy. I immediately fell in love when I picked him up and three days later he was on the plane home with me! They say that your dog chooses you and this is definitely true for me and Oso.

Reading fiction is something I do regularly as a way to relax. It’s hard to choose one favorite book. Beloved by Toni Morrison left an impact on me as a teenager. I recently felt inspired by a book called Circe, which is about a Greek goddess who lives on an island making potions. I still read actual books as opposed to using a kindle or e-reader; I like the feeling of the paper in my hands.

My favorite childhood memories are going to the beach with my family and having large family gatherings. I enjoyed gardening with my grandmother at her house and swimming in her pool with my cousins.

I already enjoy my job as a psychotherapist, but I would like to expand it to offer more healing modalities. My dream is to own a property where there is nature in walking distance. I would build an office in the yard so I could see clients at my home (but not in my home) and offer a menu of options such as craniosacral bodywork, mindfulness based therapy, art therapy, yoga and ecotherapy.

My mother lives close to the beach, so we spend a lot of time together as a family at her house in the summer. We walk to the beach, swim together and take walks to the river. We often cook dinner together and enjoy the long summer evenings outside.

I love to make ceramics. Whether it's on the wheel or handbuilt, working with clay is a relaxing and satisfying form of creativity. I also love hiking with my dog and camping.

Halloween and Thanksgiving are my favorite holidays. I appreciate Thanksgiving because it is a time to show gratitude and enjoy being with loved ones without the commercialism of Christmas. Of course it's fun to get dressed up on Halloween and enjoy the imaginary world of children.
