Dear Embryo Donors,

I write with deep gratitude for your extraordinary generosity. The gift you have offered—the chance to grow our family—means more than words can express. After three years of trying to conceive, I will be 44 this year and, after careful consideration, I have decided to pause further IVF due to time, financial considerations, and my partner’s health issues, which prevent us from using his sperm. Yet we remain hopeful that we may one day welcome a child through donated embryos, a possibility we hold with great care and responsibility.

A little about us: I run a medium-sized family restaurant, a role I’ve held with dedication for eight years. I am grateful to have found stability and now want to focus on building our family. Our home is rooted in traditional values, blending American and Chinese influences. We still hold many Confucian values and Buddhist philosophies. We are not religious but spiritual; so we do honor the Earth and Sky in our prayers as well as paying respect to our ancestors. Before we started the business, I did a lot of volunteer work such as soup kitchens, spending time with seniors at nursing homes and teaching art classes to the visually blind. Occasionally I would take my young nieces and nephews along to learn how to be kind and compassionate toward others.

We are fortunate to have a strong family network: I have two older sisters who live nearby, and I share a two-family house with my oldest sister where we also care for our elderly parents. Our extended family includes seven nieces and nephews who brighten our lives, and we share our home with a calm, gentle dog named Annie. Outside of work, we enjoy hiking, camping, fruit-picking, farm visits, and gardening—activities we hope to share with the children who join our family. My partner and I also love traveling and are curious to learn a little bit about unknown places we’ve never been.

Regarding the donation itself, we would be grateful to participate in an open or semi-open arrangement, as we believe that many people find meaning in knowing their child’s origins. If your guidelines allow, we would love to provide updates about our child’s well-being and growth, while fully respecting your privacy and any boundaries or preferences you have for openness or contact. We are committed to honoring your gift with the utmost care, respect, and gratitude.
