INTRO LETTER

Introductory Letter

I am a tenured associate professor at a university in the United States of America. I graduated from a top Ivy League university with a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology. This discipline allows me to experience and relate to most cultures worldwide and appreciate the diversity in these cultures even though I am an American citizen. I travel and conduct research in developing countries and within the United States. I am an author, teacher, and speaker, but more importantly, I am very down-to-earth, easy, and comfortable to talk with. In their course evaluations, my students report that they feel respected, appreciated, loved unconditionally, and engaged in the learning process in the classroom.

As you may all be aware, this accomplishment in my career takes a long time, and getting a compatible husband, with the same drive and ambition, became challenging. However, I learned about going through IVF to start a family of my own and started looking for possibilities. I also quickly learned that the process is a costly and emotionally engaging experience yet my love for my future child/children, via embryo donation, supersedes everything and is incomparable to none of the things I value. I think of having a child every day, every single day. I envision the day of their birth, first words, first steps, first day of school and college. I imagine them telling me to read the storybooks repeatedly. They will know how much they are loved, appreciated, and heard by being family. This is the reason I have turned to Embryo Solutions to help me achieve my dream of a child/children.

I grew up in a family of six children. My father was a referend pastor, and my mother was a schoolteacher. All my siblings are married and have children. Thus, I have nieces and nephews and other extended family members and friends. When I visit my siblings, my nieces, and nephews like to come to my bedroom just to hang out, especially on the first day of my visit. We are a remarkably close family and support each other’s progress. Because of the position of my parents in the community, children from disadvantaged backgrounds have lived in our home. I also have an adopted sister whom I have known since she was three years old and is currently in college. Thus, there is a big community and networks to help raise children.

I currently live in the suburbs with enough room for children/children. My neighborhood is very safe and children-friendly. There are many parents and children in my neighborhood. Probably because of the many high-quality schools surrounding us. The schools range from elementary and middle school to high school. The University where I work as a professor is walking distance from where I live.

I chose to be a professor because I wanted to have children. The schedule is very flexible, and I get to choose the days and times that I teach in collaboration with other faculty members who are very understanding. I am on campus twice or thrice a week and mostly home the rest of the time. In addition, I have a three-month break in the summer and another month in the spring when my classes are not in session, giving me ample time to bond with my child/children. One of the many dreams I have is to take the child/children on a Safari to Africa during these long holidays when they are grown up.

As a tenured professor, I have job security for the rest of my career life making me economically secure and able to take care of my family. I also have health insurance among other forms of insurance including retirement benefits. There are other benefits of working at a university. As a full-time tenured faculty, if the children decide to attend the university that I teach, they get their tuition expenses covered. If they choose another college, there are some tuition reimbursements or plans in place to help offset the costs. In addition, my salary should be enough to pay for schooling and upkeep. This makes me feel economically secure and validates my desire for a family at this point in my life when I am ready. I also feel emotionally, physically, and socially ready.

I am a very pleasant person, with an optimistic personality. I like listening to gospel music from around the world. Reading and writing are part of my hobbies as well as having long nature walks in the park. I also enjoy having long conversations with family and friends, in person or on the phone, and watching documentaries during my free time. I have access to museums, children's friendly parks, and a library with sections and children's programs. Sometimes, I think I could write a children’s book.

In sum, I feel blessed to be able to have an opportunity for a family through Embryo Solutions. I look forward to this experience.
